Couples Communication Seminars

Couples Communication seminars orignated from the University of Minnisota where it is recorded that over 500,000 couples have participated in the four week group program (or the 6 week individual program).

Workshop Goal
The goal of the workshop is to sharpen the ability of participants to talk, listen, resolve conflicts, and manage anger effectively.

Objectives
By attending this workshop, participants will:

  • Identify the competencies for successful instruction of the frameworks, skills, and processes
  • Practice skill/process coaching methods with real and simulated issues
  • Identify guidelines for gaining commitment to learning from couples
  • Identify ways to support the transfer and extended use of the skills and processes
  • Explore guidelines for special circumstances (e.g., working with highly conflicted couples)
  • Integrate programs with contemporary theories and research
  • Choose instructional designs for your setting - clinic, education, or congregation/community

Workshop Learning Methods
The class incorporates all learning modes - presentations, demonstrations, skill practice using skills mats, assessments, and application/transfer exercises.   In the program a couple  will practice, and be coached, with real issues of their own choosing.  

Participation Set up

Groups can be up to 10 couples, which takes 2 hours of class a week for 4 weeks or a couple have individual instruction 1 hour a week for 6 weeks.
